'80-'81 XS1100 with Mikuni BS34 Carbs

 This is the second evolution to the XS750 triple, The XS850 triple with Hitachi HSC34 carbs. Of course like all Hitachi carbs I have seen the ID numbers are on removable parts of the carbs. This means the ID you have, may not match the carb you have. In this case it is on the back of the float bowls. This is not a huge issue in this case as these carbs basicly are the same carb with the same tuning. The main differences in these ID's are cosmetic in nature. If your carbs look nothing like the pictures below, you also could have XS750 triple carbs installed, it is quite common. Usually, '78-'79 XS750 and rarely '77 carbs. There is hardly any information for this model and it can be quite confusing to rebuild, even with a Yamaha manual. I like weird carb rebuilds so this is one of my favorites.

Note: Starting in '74 Yamaha started year coding bikes in the last letter used in the name. You may see this code on your bikes paperwork or in a parts list or catalog.  I leave this off as it is redundant if you are showing the year anyway. There is a chart below to find your year code.

Below are a set of XS1100SF (3H3) Mikuni BS34 carbs. The carbs all have the same internal tuning. The numbers denote cosmetic changes like plain top caps, chrome top caps and the Midnight with gold top caps and gloss black painted carbs.
