'88-'90 FZR400 with Mikuni BDS32

This was the smallest of the FZR series for the US market. The FZR400 uses a set of Mikuni BDS32 total downdraft carbs. These are a very high reving around 14K RPM and that makes the carb suffer at mid-range if there are any issues. Set-up correctly these little bikes are beasts and can be very fun at a track day.

Note: Starting in '74 Yamaha started year coding bikes in the last letter used in the name. You may see this code on your bikes paperwork or in a parts list or catalog.  I leave this off as it is redundant if you are showing the year anyway. There is a chart below to find your year code.

Below is a set of '88-'90 FZR400 Mikuni BDS32 carbs. These were the same from '88-'90 other than the California version that has different internal tuning. It is very important the float height and float seat assembly are set-up right or you can easily damage an engine with hydraulic lock-up.
