Rob's Carburetor Rebuilds

'88-'90 FJ1200 with Mikuni BS36 Carbs

This is the first gen FJ1200 sport with Mikuni BS36 carbs. These are a little hard to find and sometimes the FJ1200 will have FJ1100 carbs, and visa-versa.  Also the motors interchange so you could buy a FJ1200 with a FJ1100 engine or any year of carbs. Very important to verify these things as this bike runs VERY well with the correct set-up. Also, these motors and carbs were used for years on Legend cars which also makes them more rare in the US and very altered if you accidently buy a old Legend carb set. Typically though I can make them the set of carbs they should be and you can get back to powering down the road.

Note: Starting in '74 Yamaha started year coding bikes in the last letter used in the name. You may see this code on your bikes paperwork or in a parts list or catalog.  I leave this off as it is redundant if you are showing the year anyway. There is a chart below to find your year code.

Below are a set of FJ1200 (3SK) Mikuni BS36 carbs. These carbs look the same as earlier years, but have different internal tuning.
