Rob's Carburetor Rebuilds

'78-'83 XS650 Twins with Mikuni BS34 Carbs

This is the second gen XS650 carbs which are BS34 Mikuni carbs. This was the second version of the BS34 that mounted the jets to the body instead of to the float bowl itself. These carbs used the normal diaphragm found on other Yamaha BS34's from this era.  Both types listed are the same carburetor with the exception of being painted black in '82-'83.

Note: Starting in '74 Yamaha started year coding bikes in the last letter used in the name. You may see this code on your bikes paperwork or in a parts list or catalog.  I leave this off as it is redundant if you are showing the year anyway. There is a chart below to find your year code.

Below is a set of  XS650S 3G1 Mikuni BS34 carbs. These carbs are much more simple than the BS38 from earlier years, but due to bad carb kits and improper maintenance they can give you hassles. One of the best running bike ever when the carbs are set up correctly. I typically strip the black paint on '82-'83 for a better look, but they can be painted upon request for a little more cost.
