Rob's Carburetor Rebuilds

'88-'22 XV250 Virago (Route 66) V-Twin with Mikuni BDS26

Twenty eight years this carb has been used on XV250 Virago (as of 2025), also called Route 66, also called V-Star 250 all depending on the era it was made. This carb has been around so long a huge amount of off brands and Chinese manufacturers have used it on their models. They all have the same tuning and use the same parts...but that only counts for the OEM carbs. Aftermarket or carbs made for non-Yamaha applications are the wild west. You may get a good replica or you could get the 30.00 carb you paid for. These are very inexpensive carbs to rebuild for you and the OE carb runs perfect when done correctly.

Note: Starting in '74 Yamaha started year coding bikes in the last letter used in the name. You may see this code on your bikes paperwork or in a parts list or catalog.  I leave this off as it is redundant if you are showing the year anyway. There is a chart below to find your year code.

Below is a '88-'22 XV250 Virago Mikuni BDS26 carb. These were the same from '88-'22 other than the California version that has different internal tuning. If your carb is not ID marked 2UJ 00 or 3BG 00 on the upper bell housing side, it probably is not a genuine Mikuni Yamaha carb.
