'95-'99 VN1500 Vulcan 88 Keihin Special CVK36 Carbs
This was the first iteration of the 1500 Vulcan and it had a long run. It came with a similar carb to the 700-750 Vulcan with the exception that they will not interchange and the 1500 uses CVK36, not CVK34. These are a very special carb style that really does not share much in common with a normal CVK or CVKD carb. They are proprietary to this model ONLY. Most that have been rebuilt before I see them have 700-750 kits installed and other incorrect parts. It is very important on this model to get it right the first time because every time you remove them from the bike is a chance to break the fragile central float chamber that holds the carbs together.
Pictured below is a VN1500A V336 carb which is a CVK 36 special down-draft. The top pictures are before rebuild and the ones at the bottom are the same set during rebuild. All of these models physically interchange, but will have different internal tuning for the California versions. These only represent US street models and years. As an added note, I have NEVER vapor or media blasted any carb I have ever rebuilt.
