Rob's Carburetor Rebuilds

'96-'03 ZX7R Ninja Keihin CVK Down-draft CVK38 Carbs

This is the forth and final gen of the ZX7, now called ZX7R as a street version and a ZX7RR for the race version. These models have Down-draft CVK38 KeiHin carbs as all the street versions have, with the exception of '89. However, all of the ZX7 generations have a huge amount of changes including both internal tuning and external changes that can make them problematic if not identified properly before acquiring any parts. Also, it is common for these carbs to have various stage kits with proprietary parts that will never match with stock parts and builds. The carbs can have even irreversible changes to slides and jet inserts and slide springs that will kill the balance on a bike that already walks a tightrope when it comes to midrange smoothness.

This is the third and final generation a race version was made available in the form of a '96-'97 ZX750N ZX7RR that comes stock with KeiHin CR flat slide mechanical slide carbs. This model was heavily modified and should not be considered a interchange for the street model.

Pictured below is a set of '96-'03 ZX750P G268 carbs. NOTE: the ZX750N ZX7RR carbs are a KeiHin CR flat slide racing carb and share nothing in common with the street CVKD38 and they are not pictured below only listed ID's.  Even though these two sets will physically fit one another, it is not recommended to interchange. The California versions for these years are the same carb as the 49 state models.
