'85-'86 VF1000R Interceptor (Gear Driven Cams) V-Four KeiHin VD77 and VD78
VF1000R '85-'86 share a similar design to VF1000F '84. They may also look like V65 carbs, but are very different and not interchangeable. Sometimes you will find the bodies interchanged between all three models of the Interceptor. This means care should be taken in correct id of the carbs before aquiring replacement parts. Also care in installing parts in the front carbs compared to the rear carbs. Even factory manuals are vague on this issue and do not explain all or none of the front-to-rear differences including main jet emulsion tubes, slide springs, jet needles, and main jet sizes.
Below is a set of VF1000R '85-'86 VD77AA carbs. Both years are the same in 49 state models, but both sets of California models have different internal tuning.
